Principal's Message
Dear Jefferson Families,
I am so proud of our JMS students. As you will see when you read this month’s newsletter, our students are doing some amazing things!
Testing season is fast approaching. Our teachers have been busy ensuring that our students are prepared for these assessments. Please encourage your child to do his or her very best on all state assessments. We will send messages to remind you of testing dates. Below is a tentative schedule. If you have any questions concerning testing dates, please contact Ms. Yates at 453-5154.
Assessment Dates
- FAST Writing - April 3
- FAST ELA/Reading - May 1
- Civics EOC, Biology EOC, & FCAT Science - May 8
- FAST Math, Algebra EOC, & Geometry EOC - May 9
March 13 is the end of the third grading period. Report cards will be issued on Friday, March 21. I strongly recommend that you talk with your child about their academics and encourage them to attend morning school and/or tutoring sessions if they need additional support.
Finally, please be reminded that Spring Break is March 25 - 29. It is my hope that you and your family will have a safe and restful break.
Sincerely,
Mrs. Meara Trine
CALCULATORS NEEDED - Donations Requested
Testing season is rapidly approaching and we are in need of calculators for the students to use during math testing. An online calculator is available, but it is not very user friendly and the students do better with the hand held calculator they are used to using in class. The math test is given to all the students at the same time so, we need one calculator for each student to use. We are asking for donations of new or gently used TI 30Xa calculators to be able to provide this necessary tool to our students. These calculators will remain at school and will be used for future testing. If you have any extra TI 30Xa calculators at home that you would like to donate, please send them to school with your student and ask them to turn them in to the front office or their math teacher. Please make sure that any calculators sent in are the correct model - TI (Texas Instruments) 30Xa, because all the students must have the same model or they cannot be used for testing. If you would like to donate a new calculator please use this Amazon link and they will be delivered directly to the school. We appreciate your generosity!
